Charlotte, NC

Overview

CHS Airport / Easy Travel

68°-90°

23% Chance Rain

Balmy home to car racing and drunks, Charlotte made a name for itself with sports and speed. Activities include racecars of all sorts, go-karts, roller coasters, whitewater, climbing, zip-lining, or a more leisurely group Segway tour around the historic neighborhoods of Charlotte.

Sights

charlotte - nascar.jpg

A high-tech venue completed in 2010 designed to educate and entertain race fans and non-fans alike. It includes artifacts, hands-on exhibits, state-of-the-art theater, Hall of Honor, Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant, NASCAR Hall of Fame Gear Shop, and a NASCAR Productions-operated broadcast studio.

A bit further outside the city, you can visit the site where Gold was first discovered in 'Merica. Hike around the woods, visit a mine shaft, pan for gold.

charlotte - Segway Tour.jpg

I can't think of anything more fun than Segwaying around Charlotte with Mammal. Let's roll through the historic uptown of Charlotte to see Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, the Mint Museum, and Gantt Center, and more. Great for groups!

charlotte - the funny bus.jpg

Aka "The Funny Bus." Get a tour of the city from a comedian, and laugh your ass off. As one reviewer states, "We took the R-rated tour and there was plenty of dirty jokes and useful information." And it stops at a brewery.

Intense Activities

Zoom through the historic uptown of Charlotte to see Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, the Mint Museum, and Gantt Center, and more. Great for groups!

A man-made playground for adults, with climbing walls, kayaking, whitewater rafting, zip lining, probably bear wrestling.

charlotte - Carrowinds.jpg

A theme park that has the world's tallest and fastest "Giga Coaster", the FURY 325, which reaches 325' high, 95 MPH, and runs over a mile. Plus other roller coasters and stuff.

Not that Go-Karting is unique to Charlotte, but how many chances do we get to fly around a track with each other? Not enough.

Recreation

Basement Arcade and Bar.jpg

Beer & cocktails mixed with arcade games and pinball machines. Pay admission and the games are all free so you can save the rest of your cash for booze. A taste of nostalgia and So-Co.

District 57 Escape Room 2_edited.jpg

A venue that has games, escape room challenges, tactical laser tag, and food & drinks.

Monster Golf_edited.jpg

Lots of fun in one building: A trippy blacklight mini-golf course, mini-bowling, a laser maze to show off Catherine Zeta-Jones maneuvers, and an arcade.

EATS

Steak 48.jpg

A classy steakhouse! Perhaps the best in the city. I hear Frank Sinatra wrote most of his songs here while drinking Kentucky sidecars. Not really. But it's that kinda place. [Menu]

Supperland.jpg

It's called SUPPERLAND. How much more do you need to know? Looks amazing. I hear P!nk once threw a plate of hush puppies across the table into Lady Gaga's face here.

Workman's Friend.jpg

Irish pub. Good beer. Serves breakfast and brunch. Described by locals as kinda like the Cheers bar. Legend has it, Danny DeVito once shot a man in the hernia here over a plate of fries.
